a chaldean zaffa is a procession that traditionally escorts the bride and groom to their wedding ceremony, featuring live music with traditional middle eastern instruments like the oud, tabla, and mijwiz. the procession typically includes family, friends, and musicians who dance and celebrate while leading the couple. this ancient tradition symbolizes the community's blessing and support for the new marriage, creating a festive atmosphere that honors chaldean cultural heritage. the zaffa serves as both a celebration and a formal announcement to the community that the wedding festivities have begun.
